  • Effective Wednesday, January 4, 2012 during the maintenance window (5-7 a.m. Eastern Time), Cosign Version 2 registrations will no longer be accepted. All existing WebAccess registrations will be converted to Version 3. This will prevent any remaining Version 2 protected web sites from working properly, effectively disabling its Cosign function.

  • 02/13/12--09:26: Resolved: email.psu.edu outage (chan 2601958)
  • A disk drive in the RAID array started to fail around 11:30, during that failure, a hot spare was brought online. No e-mail or data was lost, but some e-mail may have been delayed. This failed drive caused a pause in the e-mail store, which caused the e-mail system to be slow or unresponsive to requests. We disabled incoming e-mail and checking of e-mail, until the failed drive was successfully replaced. As of 12:16 all services are available.

We do not expect any further disruptions to UCS but will keep this alert active until the underlying problems have been resolved.

  • 02/21/12--15:23: Resolved: FPS and DIMC Partial Outage (chan 2601958)
  • The servers which provide the FPS and DIMC services began experiencing high load resulting in poor response after 5pm today. ITS staff have taken measures to improve performance and we believe the problem is resolved. We will continue to monitor the services.

  • 02/23/12--05:20: Resolved: ITS Alerts DB outage (chan 2601958)
  • Applications such as ITS Alerts, ITS News, Report Hate and some functions of podcasts.psu.edu were unavailable this morning between about 7:00 a.m. and 7:40 a.m. due to a database service being overloaded by connections from another application. Root cause appears to be due to an unexpected behavior in this application in response to routine database maintenance yesterday. ITS staff will continue to evaluate the situation in order to prevent a repeat problem.
